We live in Illinois near Chicago and the first race was in California. We had to save on days off since we only got 2 weeks off a year and driving to and from the races had to fall into the 2 weeks off. So, we left for California and I drove straight thru. Twenty-nine hours later, we were in CA, and I had driven over 2000 miles. We got to the course in Temecula and met the GG people, we thought they were teasing us about the rattle snakes, ground bees and tarantulas. Wrong. That was the most exciting pre-ride ever! We saw not one but three rattle snakes, a swarm of ground bees that was so big it looked like the dusty trail had been turned to mud, and a couple very large spiders crossing in our paths.
