14 Days until P2P 2011!

Can’t hardly believe we are two weeks away for race day!   Wanted to make everyone aware of a few things for this year.

The biggest:  There will be NO PARKING at the Deer Valley Silver Lake Lodge (upper Deer Valley).  We have worked with Deer Valley to have Silver Lake Express lift running and will offer each racer 2 FREE lift tickets to give to friends/family.  Please notify everyone to park at the Snow Park Lodge (lower Deer Valley) and ride Silver Lake Express lift to Silver Lake.  This should be a very fun experience for everyone, the lift passes over some of the course and gives many more opportunities spectate the event.  THANK YOU FOR ADHERING TO THIS REQUEST.   There will still be the ability for someone to support you at Silver Lake, they just will simply need to ride the lift up.

Second thing – Please be certain you are in Park City on Friday (Sept. 2) at the Canyons (in the Forum) between 2:30PM and 5:30PM so you can pickup your number and sign waivers.  There will be a racer meeting at 5:45 approximately if you’d like to know more about the race.

There’s information on the Racer Handbook page…you should read through it carefully.  I’ll continue to add details to it if necessary. Questions are always welcome, on Facebook or via email:  jay (at) thepcpp (dot) com

Lastly, There are a limited number of 2011 Custom PCP2P Jerseys and Pint glasses available, if you really want one > visit our page on athlete360.com and buy one now that you can pickup on Friday the 2nd.  Whatever is left will be at the registration table, cash or check only.

See you Labor Day Weekend here in Park City.

2011 Park City Point 2 Point > 3rd Annual

Ok, enough time has passed that you veteran PCP2P racers can maybe start thinking about another shot at the race.  Maybe better you time by 30 minutes, lessen the cramping a little…or simply finish this year.  Whatever you goal, we are excited to see you all again in 2011.  To those of you that have never raced the PCP2P, it is a gem and we look forward to hopefully seeing you in 2011.

Here are a few important dates you should know.  There will be details unfolding in the next few months on next years events, some course tweaks are certain and a few other changes potentially.

2011 Date > Saturday, September 3rd, 2011

Registration goes live on February 15th, 2011 at 7:00PM

That’s a Wrap! The 2nd Annual PCP2P is Over…

Wow! This seems to be the best way I can describe the 2nd annual Park City Point 2 Point (good Video here).

It all started with the overwhelming interest back in February when we launched registration and it promptly sold out.  Since then we’ve had an unbelievable amount of interest from Solo racers all over the country.  I think the event is officially “on the map.”

The event this weekend was a ton of fun…Shannon and I are still recovering, and I’m sure you are too.  A huge highlight for me is the overwhelming support the race has recieved from the community.  There were a ton of folks at the finish line that had no connection to any one racer in particular, they were just there to enjoy the afternoon and welcome racers back to reality.  That’s very cool, and many of you racers have commented on that one element of the event alone.   Another hightlight > > > Volunteers!  Volunteers!  Really, I can’t say enough about them and I hope they all know how much we appreciate their efforts.  So many of the racers have given heart-felt thanks, we love our vounteers.

The race!  ”Is it going to be harder this year?” was the overwhelming pre-race question being asked.  My blanket answer was, “it will be the same.”  I stand by that statement…had it not been for the heat and dry wind that was served up on Saturday.  I do not recall one racer stating we needed additional water stations last year (we had 150 racers in 09), this year I don’t recall one of you NOT saying we need more water (with the exception of those that used Camelbaks > WHICH I WILL HIGHLY RECOMMEND IN SUBSEQUENT YEARS).  This years race was undeniably hard!  Congratulations to all of you, whether you conquered it or not in 2010.  Is it to early still to say…”there is always next year.”

Anyway…here are a few things, some final house keeping if you will.

30ish Days Out From the PCP2P…Some Important Stuff!

The race date is quickly approaching, things are coming together nicely for this year event.  Here are a few things I wanted to make you aware of.

•  Friday:  Packet Pick-up 1PM – 5:30PM and      Pre-Race Meeting 6:00PM
These are happening in the forum at The Canyons.  See you there.

• Lodging:  If I were racing this event, I would want to stay in Park City on Friday night.  Start time is just a hair prior to 7AM (sun rise)!  Check out these great deals with our lodging partners.

http://thepcpp.com/the-surroundings/stay-here/

• This year we will NOT be doing the AM shuttle from The Canyon’s to the Start Line.  We had a lack of interest and this year we’ve secured parking near the start venue (you will need to get there on your own after the race to pickup your car).  More details will come on the lot location soon.

• Special Deals for racers
- myPOV360.com:  they are huge supporters of the event this year, the POV vids you’ll see posted from us come out of those cameras.  The Drift X170 (HD model too) are being offered to racers at a great price.  If you’ve wanted one, you should take advantage of this.  The Drift is super easy to use and very compact.  Visit this link to order yours…https://www.mypov360.com/park-city-point-2-point/
- Garmin…you want a 605 at a great price?  MSRP $399.99 less  30% $279.99.  You can get yours by calling White Pine Touring and placing a pre-order request.  Call Eric or Julian at 435-649-8710  www.whitepinetouring.com

Stay tuned for more details, they will be presented on the Racer Handbook page and on the FAQ page.

FREE Entry and Two Nights Free Lodging to the 2010 PCP2P

FREE entry & 2 nights FREE Condo lodging from our friends at Park City Crash Pads!

What do you have to do? Post a wall story about the craziest road trip you’ve ever experienced traveling to a race – like waking up to the sound of gunfire to find you plopped a sleeping bag down in the center of the local shooting range (which is actually the old town dump). You have very limited space, so get to the point, get creative and you could be racing and Lodging for FREE!  Images always make for a better story, so post ‘em up, and….the more comments your story receives the better you chances of winning are.

We pick our winner the day registration opens on 2/15/10. Good Luck!

The Second Running of the PCP2P…

Happy New Year!

Mark your calendars racers, we will be back at it right here in Park City, UT – Saturday, September 4th, 2010. The details will be unfolding over the next 9 months, so follow this weblog, follow our Twitter feed, or become a fan on our Facebook page – do something! Hell, why don’t you start training.

Registration will launch on February 15th, 2010. We will be feeding more information out on this very soon, so again, find a way to stay in touch and do it.

We already have a couple of noteworthy national competitors giving us initial word they will be out for this years event. The current 24 hour National Champion, Josh Tostado and Relative newcomer Eszter Horanyi winner of the Laramie Enduro, Vapor Trail 125, and 24-Hour National Championships in Moab. I’ve not heard any word yet on the returning champs, Alex Grant and Pua Sawicki, but I’m pretty certain it will be hard to keep them from defending their titles.
