My Personal Experience with SMSG (Sports Medicine Specialty Group)
The first thing you need to know is that I’d never had a professional bike fit done, nor any type of performance testing. I’ve always personally tinkered with my fit on the bike based off of feel and what I’ve learned talking to others and researching. As for fitness testing, I felt is was unnecessary, after years of off and on training and working with different coaches and philosophies my stance was I know how to get myself fit enough to race.
Here is what I feel after doing through SMSG’s bike fit, Lactate Threshold and VO2 Max testing.
The Bike Fit
After doing the bike fit with Dr. Testa I realized that my shoot-from-the-hip approach had a lot of holes in it. Certainly after all these year of riding I was in the window of a decent fit, but there were definitely tweaks that have made a difference in my comfort on my current bike.
Dr. Testa and the team did a great job, as you’ll notice in the video, breaking down each area. We spent a lot of time on my ankle angling (which I was getting a lot of). This was certainly an area I’d not focused on much and it has made a noticeable difference in efficiency on the bike.
The Testing
I believe the one thing I walked away with from the testing I did, was a better understanding of training zones. It’s pretty easy to go out and know that you are doing an LSD (long steady distance) to work base, or working an interval day. But, it it nice to know when you are really in the zone to achieve maximum results. More importantly, for those of you wanting to take your training to the next level, to have the test results allows for creating a plan that will generate better profits.

Where Should I Stay in Park City for the PCP2P?
Funny you should ask…we have a few options for those of you coming in from out of town, and even those of you from nearby that may want to simply stay for a night.
All the deals can be found here…..The PCP2P Official Lodging Partner Page
Lets start with the locals…Here’s the deal, I’m not sure you’re going to want to be here for the racer meeting at 6PM (done around 7:30PM) on Friday night, get home late, and then be back up here by 6:00AM for the 7AM start! Why not just stay up here??? For $65 you can stay at The Park City Peaks Hotel, get to bed early and you are only 3 miles from the start area.
For those of you from out-of-town (state), you may want to stay in a unit with a few more amenities – a condo lets say. We’ve got The Canyons offering a Bed and Breakfast Race-Cation deal and we have Park City Crash Pads offering a free night when you stay 2. Both offers are a great way to experience Park City and the Point 2 Point over the Labor Day weekend.
