So, we need to clarify what is going on with registration. We opened registration today for the racers who raced last year, as a thank you for having faith in us during our first year! This has backfired on us a little, as we’ve had a number of people register today that did not race last year. There’s still a lot of spaces left for the event, but as a result of the poaching, we will shut the athlete360 site down at noon tomorrow (Feb. 11th). Registration will re-open at 9:00AM on Monday, February 15th. We couldn’t be more thrilled with the enthusiasm everyone is showing for the event, but we also want to be certain new racers all get the same chance at the spaces available. I shutter to think about creating another LT100 debacle.
Another thought to file away for 2011, and I would love to see some comments here on this – do you think the best way to handle registration is to simply open it up on a given day and let it go first-come-first-served? I personally do not like the lottery system. Thoughts?
Happy Winter Riding.

As a 3 year finisher and causality of this years Lance100 (LT100), I like JZ’s suggestion. Throw some kind of bone to those that have supported you in the past. I like the age group idea too. I appreciate you looking out for those of us that raced last year by opening up early. A lottery just opens it up to No Shows and that hurts everyone. You’re doing a great job and you have a fantastic race. See you in September.

This makes me sick. This is the biggest race I’ve been planning on this year. Too bad there isn’t a locals preference. Here’s to hoping.

My apologies to all as I was not aware the sign up was for last years riders. I got a text from two of my teammates saying registration was open and sign up. I did not see anything when I went to sign up that said for last years riders?
As far as next year, first come first serve is about as fair as it gets. I also agree the Leadville way is a complete joke which I why I will never race Leadville again. See you all in the fall in Park City!

Very frustrated, almost half the slots are already gone! Ive been watching and waiting for this race to open for 4 months! I think your gonna need to open more than 300 slots for this race.

Thanks Brandon…I really like the idea about launching it in the evening, something we will certainly entertain for next year.

My apologies for jumping the gun on the registration had I known it was a reward for others I would not have registered. I did email the administrators to make sure everything was correct but I also did not want to miss out on an opportunity to race in this event.
I agree the only way to make things fair anymore in these awesome small events is to open registration for all at once. I understand there should be spots reserved for pros. Dave Weins set up the Gunnison Growler registration at 9pm in the evening so those who work and don’t have access to the internet can also have the chance to register. This seems extremely fair. His event sold out over night. Supposedly there were 300 spots available and only 250 were on the registration site therefore he may have held spots for others perhaps this is the way to do the rewards and reserve spots for pros. That is just my guess on how he went about it.
