So, we need to clarify what is going on with registration. We opened registration today for the racers who raced last year, as a thank you for having faith in us during our first year! This has backfired on us a little, as we’ve had a number of people register today that did not race last year. There’s still a lot of spaces left for the event, but as a result of the poaching, we will shut the athlete360 site down at noon tomorrow (Feb. 11th). Registration will re-open at 9:00AM on Monday, February 15th. We couldn’t be more thrilled with the enthusiasm everyone is showing for the event, but we also want to be certain new racers all get the same chance at the spaces available. I shutter to think about creating another LT100 debacle.
Another thought to file away for 2011, and I would love to see some comments here on this – do you think the best way to handle registration is to simply open it up on a given day and let it go first-come-first-served? I personally do not like the lottery system. Thoughts?
Happy Winter Riding.

Hello PCP2P- I raced last year and was obvously very happy to see that finishers got first shot. A way to get by the confusion and avoid poaching, Let racers from this year sign up at the 2010 event for the 2011 race. Many Tri’s have sign up the day after the event. We show up with our number from the 2010 race, and pay for the 2011 race. Or, to accomodate those not spending the evening, When we get our race packet the day before, make arrangements so we can register for the 2011 at that time. Any spots left open can go to the online registration when you open that up. Seems to work nicely for the Lake Placid Triathalon

I definitely agree that people who have done the race the prior year and especially the top 10-15 finishers should get a code so that they could register early and have a spot reserved. That seems fair. LT100 main problem, in my opinion, is that the race director isn’t consistent and lets people group “packets” of people together with prior finishers which really causes problem and seems unfair. I say this with full disclosure that I did LT 100 last year and got in on a “packet”, but I honestly felt guilty about it after others didn’t get in.
Question: Is there a chance that the 300 limit will someday be raised to accommodate more racers? Who is setting this as the cap on the entrants?

I did this race last year. I was so appreciative of the early email notifying open reg for 2009 racers. I plan on doing this race every year untill i die of old age climbing spiro and they have to carry me down the mountain, stuff me, dip me in wax and prop me up at the finish line for finishers to pose next to. I know you guys will do the right thing for future registration. I really like the idea of the top riders in each cat getting a special invite for the next year.

This is also planning on being my HUGE race for 2010. I missed last year due to schedule and have and will continue to focus training around this event. I would hate to not make it in due the errors like this. Honestly 300 slots is really not that much, why can’t you increase the amount of available slots to 400 or even 500. Either way see ya at 9am.
