That’s a Wrap! The 2nd Annual PCP2P is Over…

September 10, 2010 by admin

Wow! This seems to be the best way I can describe the 2nd annual Park City Point 2 Point (good Video here).

It all started with the overwhelming interest back in February when we launched registration and it promptly sold out.  Since then we’ve had an unbelievable amount of interest from Solo racers all over the country.  I think the event is officially “on the map.”

The event this weekend was a ton of fun…Shannon and I are still recovering, and I’m sure you are too.  A huge highlight for me is the overwhelming support the race has recieved from the community.  There were a ton of folks at the finish line that had no connection to any one racer in particular, they were just there to enjoy the afternoon and welcome racers back to reality.  That’s very cool, and many of you racers have commented on that one element of the event alone.   Another hightlight > > > Volunteers!  Volunteers!  Really, I can’t say enough about them and I hope they all know how much we appreciate their efforts.  So many of the racers have given heart-felt thanks, we love our vounteers.

The race!  “Is it going to be harder this year?” was the overwhelming pre-race question being asked.  My blanket answer was, “it will be the same.”  I stand by that statement…had it not been for the heat and dry wind that was served up on Saturday.  I do not recall one racer stating we needed additional water stations last year (we had 150 racers in 09), this year I don’t recall one of you NOT saying we need more water (with the exception of those that used Camelbaks > WHICH I WILL HIGHLY RECOMMEND IN SUBSEQUENT YEARS).  This years race was undeniably hard!  Congratulations to all of you, whether you conquered it or not in 2010.  Is it to early still to say…”there is always next year.”

Anyway…here are a few things, some final house keeping if you will.

Is the course going to be the same as last year as outlined in Trailforks?

Lots of good memories in PC, specially because the p2p through the years there. From the hot ones, to the stormy year where the start had to be delayed… everyone I did was memorable. Miss you PC!

I am not trying to get any PRs or make podium or anything, just trying to finish. It seems like there are a million ways to train for this. Do you have any training sites or protocols you think are good for intermediate (just trying to finish) riders?
